Saludos cordiales,
Federico de Palma Medrano

My name is Federico de Palma Medrano and I am looking for partners and alliances for a project that can solve much of the social and environmental problems currently suffered by large cities and urban areas especially in winter and in cold areas in America, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa.
The causes of the problem are identified in the deterioration of rivers, lakes, seas and oceans and their effects on biodiversity, environmental services and the generation of poverty, diseases and economic losses from pollution by wastewater and other wastes of anthropomorphic origin dumped in urban drainage, but the true origin of the problem occurs in several parts:
1) On the one hand we have the infrastructure of the public drainage network which in most of these cities is a single combined drainage network in which the clean rainwater mixes with the domestic and industrial liquid waste of the city , that way all the rain water gets contaminated also and prevents the use of a high quality clean water resource such as rain, so many engineers create megaprojects and aqueducts to bring more water to the city from other places and causing desertification and affecting other hydrological basins far away from the city itself, but also happens that the volume of liquid waste when it rains in the city increases to such a degree that it is impossible to contain it and the treatment plants are forced to open floodgates and let these liquid waste escape without being able to give them the complete treatment so that rivers and surface water sources receive these directly contaminated discharges dose too.
2) In cities that have already identified this problem and which have the capacity to finance themselves, they have begun to separate the drainage network and many of them already have at least two independent lines, a rainwater network whose objective is to direct the Rainwater as clean as possible to the rivers and lakes, the more conscious cities are already implementing terraces and green roofs, gravel gardens and other filtering surfaces, rain parks and artificial wetlands whose objective is to filter rain before it reach the rainwater network and arrives to the primary rivers and reservoirs, thereby reducing the volume of rainwater flowing freely through the city’s paved surfaces by reducing pollution caused by the ingestion of organic and inorganic pollutants to rivers; However, in the case of sanitary drainage, and even though they have managed to prevent rain from filtering by controlling the volume, cities with cold winters have a huge problem at the moment, wastewater treatment is basically carried out by microorganisms that lives and feed on organic nutrients and just as most living things are adapted to survive in a warm temperature range and when it is very cold its activity decreases and can even stop completely when the temperature is below zero, these cities In winter require significant amounts of energy to heat and maintain the waste water in suitable temperature ranges or otherwise the volume accumulates and have to open the same way the floodgates and release the contaminated drainage to the rivers and lakes since they can not contain or give it the right treatment when is very cold and don´t have enough resources to heat it.
3) The third part of the origin of the problem could be said to be socio-cultural although it is also directly related to the infrastructure and sanitary furniture that we currently have in our homes.
Mammals as us unlike other living things like birds that only have cloaca or fish that only have anus, have the ability to separate our organic waste in two forms, a very clean in liquid form, practically sterile and free of pathogenic microorganisms when comes from healthy organisms and whose handling and storage has a minimum level of risk of transmission of pathological diseases such as urine, pis or pipi as we normally know is produced by the kidneys and a system of biological filters that function as chemical refineries in our body and is made up mostly of Water (95%) and the rest is nitrogen and other elements that are essential nutrients for the development of plants. The other waste is usually solid or semi-solid, and represents the fecal matter, comes from the digestive system and passes through the intestine in which many different types of microorganisms coexist with millions of different living beings, some of which are considered pathogens and dangerous for both humans and many others living beings so it may pose a significant biological infection risk and a focus of transmission of many diseases if not handled properly.
Liquid urine is very easy to transport and store 5 to 6 times more nutrients than feces, the nitrogen it contains is one of the most important nutrients for plants but it is also considered a very complete fertilizer as it also contains potassium and phosphorus as well as other essential nutrients for vegetables.
In most cultures and homes we are accustomed to urinate and defecate in the same place, in our bathrooms we do not separate the urine from the shit, and it happens that, the urine that represents the largest volume of waste we produce daily and that could being a basic raw material that is very easy to use is wasted and is biologically contaminated when mixed with fecal material, increasing the volume of discharges within the sanitary network and the ease of transporting contaminants and transmitting health risks to other places and organisms.
Some nations are already aware of this situation and are beginning to implement urinals as similar to those already found and used in some public restrooms for gentlemen but also begin to install them in the ladies public baths, in the market are already some toilet models which separate into two separate lines the type of human waste, a urine pipeline which is stored and used as fertilizer or to produce ammonia and in another the feces.
There is a lot to do but when you clearly understand where the problems originate and not only their effects we make a huge breakthrough to find the solutions.
I thank you for the time and attention you have given to this and I hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,
Federico de Palma Medrano
